Fowler Lake Drawdown
Beginning September 30, 2019
Oconomowoc’s Peacock Dam is schedule for its required inspection in 2019. To accomplish this work, Fowler Lake must be drawn down approximately 2 feet. The purpose of the inspection is to look for changes that may indicate the need for repairs or even the existence of serious defects that if left unaddressed could lead to failure of the dam.
Beginning Monday, September 30, 2019, the Department of Public Works will begin the drawdown of the lake at a rate not to exceed 4” per day as required to prevent abrupt pressure changes on the dam. The drawdown period will take approximately one week. The inspection will occur when the lake level is at the proper elevation to view the structural components of the dam.
The City of Oconomowoc will be notifying all property owners abutting Fowler Lake of the scheduled drawdown which could present an opportunity to schedule shoreline or dock repairs. After the inspection is completed, which will only take one day, the lake will be returned to its normal water level. Questions regarding this planned work can be directed to Dave Stoiser, Assistant Director of Public Works, City of Oconomowoc at (262) 569-2188 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Other Reminders for Fowler Lake Residents: When cleaning up aquatic plants, please place at the end of your pier. This will allow for more effective and efficient pick up from the Public Works Crew. Plants that are placed on lawns will not be removed. Thank you for your cooperation.
