In memory of Kathy Boritzke, a local artist and past board member for the Oconomowoc Festival of the Arts (FOA), the FOA is organizing an opportunity for middle school applicants who share an interest in the visual arts. These students will be guided through a nationally recognized project, www.hexagonproject.org, to create visual art to demonstrate important local and world issues that require interdependence and cooperation. The event will take place June 24th from 12:30-3:00pm at the Oconomowoc Community Center.
The project integrates communication, science, technology, through the visual arts to demonstrate the need to solve and prevent problems interdependently. Working together to lead this project are: Tom Steinbach, Oconomowoc Water Works; DeeDee Jacobsen, Gifted and Talented Educator; Anne Raskopf, 2D mural artist; and Brown Dog Gadgets of Brookfield, technological programming and laser cutting.
The application can be found at www.oconomowocarts.org under the Mindful Mixed Mediums tab on the left of the home page. Applicants considered on first come, first serve basis.
