[ARCHIVED] Staff Helps National Weather Service for 50 Years

Since 1971, employees at the Oconomowoc Wastewater Treatment Facility have been official observers and recorders of weather data for the National Weather Service. Statistics maintained include high and low temperatures, precipitation, and snowfall.

At the October 18, 2022 Common Council meeting, the OWWTF received an Honored Institution Award from the United States Department of Commerce recognizing 50 years of service. The award was presented by Kevin Lynott, National Weather Service Meteorologist in Charge, and Ben Miller, National Weather Service Observation Program Leader. In attendance to accept the award were Kevin Freber, Operations Manager, Tom Dickson, Operations Foreman, and Jason Daniels, Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician. Freber was also recognized for 35 years of service in the United States government.
