The City of Oconomowoc Police Department would like to announce our inaugural Senior Citizens Police Academy for anyone 55 and older.  All classes will be held on Wednesdays from 1-4pm (locations will vary).

Citizens Academy Partners

The City of Oconomowoc, Town of Oconomowoc, Village of Oconomowoc Lake, Village of Summit, and Western Lakes Fire District, are sponsoring a Citizens Police Academy. We invite and encourage you to apply to learn more about your local police and fire departments. 


Some of the topics to be covered:

Crimes against Seniors

Cons, Scams and Frauds

Overview of Patrol Operations: hiring process, officer training, and Community Service

K-9 Demonstration

Medical Examiner

Scenario Based Decision-making

Initial wound care to common injuries, stop the bleed, and fall prevention

 

This course is NOT a certification; rather, it is designed to educate the public as to the day-to-day operations of your local police and fire departments. Some of the course sessions will include interactive hands-on participation. You are not obligated to participate in the physical aspects of the course if you choose not to. This course is an educational, informational perspective of policing, which will allow you to get to know the men and women who serve your communities.
