The Recreation Department offers a comprehensive tennis programs to meet all ages and levels including lessons, leagues and other high school tennis programs.

High School Drill & Play
Join Emily Goranson, the Oconomowoc High School JV coach, this summer to work on basic tennis drills and supervised match play to practice your match play strategy and pick up new tips. This three-week class will give players the opportunity to work on skills through match play against others of the same ability.


High Intensity Workout
This program is for high school players wanting high intensity physical and cardiovascular workout. Class is a combination of high intensity drills and a great workout and is offered in the summer with USTAP Pro I USTA Hall of Famer, Barb Mueller.

Teen Tennis Lessons
Do you want to learn a sport that you can play for a lifetime? Instructor Andy Badura, USPTA Pro3, will teach basic stroke development and fundamentals of tennis on Saturday mornings throughout the summer. Lessons are designed for the beginner or advanced beginner player.

Teen Excellence
This class is for JV or Varsity players. USPTA Pro3, Andy Badura will work players through a series of drills and skill development games and exercises. Monday will be high skill drills and refine specialty shots. The emphasis will be on singles and doubles strategy. Friday includes supervised play with tips from the professional.

Competitive experience required. Classes are held at the Oconomowoc High School tennis courts throughout the summer.

SEPRC Tennis League
This summer tennis league offers a traveling competitive experience against other communities for JV players and those striving to be Varsity players. Matches are played against other Recreation Department High School teams in the area. Participants must provide own transportation. Practices are on Tuesdays and matches are on Thursdays with Coach Andy Badura.

USTA Jr. Team Tennis League
This USTA leagues is for intermediate level (3.0 ranking) players and includes singles, doubles, and mixed competitive match play. League champions will advance to the Wisconsin District. Participants must be USTA members. Register for
USTA membership online. Participants must provide own transportation.

The league begins in June with Coach Andy Badura, USPTA Pro3. Practices are on Tuesdays and matches are on Wednesdays.

USTA Rookie Tennis Tournament The Oconomowoc Classic is an annual USTA Rookie Tournament is designed for and limited to new players, recreational players, and players with few if any standing points in acceptance with the USTA WI point system. Participants must not be ranked higher than 20 in the Wisconsin District to participate in their age group. They may however play up in an age category where they are not ranked higher than 20.

The annual tournament is held in July at the Oconomowoc Community Tennis Center (High School) Tournament manager is Matt Tueteberg. Check back for more information!

Format:
  • Play may begin as early as 8:00 am
  • Two matches guaranteed, eight game pro set for 10s, two out of three sets for 12s and up regular scoring
  • Tennis balls will be provided
  • Check in 15 minutes prior to starting
  • Trophies to first and second place winners and first place consolation winner

Divisions:
  • Boys’ 10s, 12s, 14s, 16s, 18s singles
  • Girls’ 10s, 12s, 14s, 16s, 18s singles
  • Tournament director reserves the right to combine divisions if necessary
